I love travelling. So last year I made a promise to myself. A promise that I vowed to keep which is, to make sure I visited Mombasa before end of year. At least I got to implement one 2017 resolution..hehe. The first time I was there was in my high school days so yeah that does not count because I barely remember anything that happened or the places we visited.
My friend Winnie was to host me which made it easier for me. I cannot thank her enough. I traveled by bus then came back by SGR. So apparently she lives in Likoni, which is at the south coast meaning I had to take the ferry to cross to the other side. I was all alone at the time, I alighted and took a tuktuk to take me to the harbour. The tuktuks there are so many and later came to learn they are the ‘taxis’ there.
The ferry had all kinds of people. We were so many and I could not wait to cross to the other side. My adventure in Mombasa had just started. Got to the Likoni side and met my friend. I needed to rest, guys travelling with the bus for over 9 hours is no joke. As we walked, we met a friend of hers cooking bhajia and viazi. Asked to choose which one is bhajia, which one will you choose?
Ok, I chose the more whiter ones since they are the ones I am used to here in Nairobi. But I was wrong….Anyway, so I went had enough rest and I was ready to kick off my weekend in Mombasa.
I am going to share with you the beautiful places I got to visit while I was there.
I got to visit the English Point Marina beach Hotel. The hotel where Sauti sol produced their song ‘Unconditional love’. That place looks amazing!!! Like A M A Z I N G! Below are some of the pictures.
I also had a chance to visit the Haller park. Its a nature trail sanctuary which gives you more of a zoo-like experience. It has grasslands and ponds with walking trails for you to view the fenced wildlife, such as hippo, giraffe. Here are a few pictures.
The above tortoise I was told is very old and it does not move. See how big it is.
The above is the reeption. I really loved the architectural design. Next is the walking trail that leads you to different places where the animals are.
I had so much fun. Really wish I could share all the pictures here.
I am yet to know where I wanna travel to this year 2018.
