The Disappointment

She lay down on her bed waiting for him after taking a hot shower. He had promised to show up , spend time with her as they cuddle. Looking at her watch , it was already nine in the evening. She had never stayed up till nine but looked like she had no option other than wait for the boyfriend who was already two hours late. He had promised to show up at seven in the evening.

They were to spend the night together. All she wanted was a shoulder to cry on. Her mum had recently passed and she did not have any close friends. She only had the boyfriend to lean on who she loved to the moon and back.

She went to the kitchen and the aroma of the food she had cooked was all over the place. The chicken smelt so good that she felt the need to eat before her boyfriend arrived. You could tell she was hungry by the way she tasted every type of food she had cooked. “Do I start eating before my guy arrives?” She thought. She later saw it a great idea to wait for him so that they could eat together.

It was already getting  late but she did not want to ask her boyfriend where he was. Disappointment was one thing she disliked. The music playing on the background was soft. She listened as she meditated on the good times they had spent together. It was prove that she had missed him so much. How long was she going to wait? She was already tired of waiting for the boyfriend.

But time was moving so fast.  Was he going to show up? It was half past ten when her phone vibrated. It was a text message from her guy that read: Hi dearie am sorry but will not make it tonight I have an emergency. He did not have the courtesy to call? A text really? Hmm, she let it go. What a disappointment! she thought. After cooking all that food?
After staying up that long? After expecting a knock on the door from him? She was really  disappointed. She had expected too much from the boyfriend that she did not ever think of getting disappointed.

She had had enough of disappointments and that is when she made up her mind never to expect anything from anyone because she might just end up disappointed again.

In this life , one should not put her expectations on someone else coz it leads to disappointment.
